What Is Dysport?
Dysport is a cosmetic injectable that is derived from the protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. It is essentially a neurotoxin that reduces the activity of the muscles where it is injected. It was approved by the FDA in 2009 for cosmetic purposes, primarily in the forehead.
The product is similar to a commonly known injectable called BOTOXⓇ. However, there are some key differences. Wrinkles, fine lines, and other marks of aging are decreased while Dysport is in effect. This is because the muscles creating those signs of aging are being forced to relax.
How Long Does It Last?
As with most cosmetic fillers and injectables, Dysport is not permanent. Instead, you’re able to see results for up to four months. It is common, to begin with three treatments spaced out between nine months. After that, treatments are more likely to last longer and be spaced out farther.
How Is It Performed?
A medical professional will likely apply a small bit of numbing agent to the injection site. However, this may be unneeded or skipped because the procedure needle is small. Then, a small needle will be used to inject Dysport into a desired area. The process will then be repeated as needed to achieve the desired result.
